Palagan sign up to Operation Clean Sweep

01/08/2018

Palagan has signed up to Operation Clean Sweep, the industry led programme to ensure that plastic pellets do not escape to the environment.

For 18 months, Palagan has demonstrated its commitment to the environment by reducing pellet spillage that could become a source of marine plastic. Signing up to Operation Clean Sweep in June 2018 has been the natural next step in our green plan.

We have put in place new measures and procedures to ensure plastic pellets are contained on site. In our manufacturing facility in Dunstable, UK, drain covers have been installed to ensure pellet containment. In addition, we have invested in new gravimetric systems to optimise raw material control and reduce spillage.

Signing up to Operation Clean Sweep is one part of our commitments to the planet. Our technical team work with British manufacturers to identify opportunities to reduce their overall packaging usage. And we can suggest a range of alternative materials – including biodegradable and compostable packaging. All of our product range is 100% recyclable.

“As a British polythene manufacturer, we have an enormous responsibility to ensure our manufacturing process doesn’t harm the natural environment. We are proving that high performing film shouldn’t be at the expense of the planet” says Simon Barton, Palagan’s Managing Director.
